Well, what can I say... I always liked my British music and obviously I had to come across the Small Faces some day. With them being brilliant and all, it was kind of inevitable that I had to check out the members' other stuff too.
So... Ronnie's solo work came into the picture and I still feel blessed everytime I listen to it. Timeless, heartfelt little gems, all of them. I can't even begin to describe how much love and energy his songs give you.
BTW: The documentary's brilliant too, a must buy!
peace & love, keep the faith!

Hi There,
I have recently been introduced to Ronnie’s music by a friend who asked me to show him how to play them on the guitar. I can’t believe I have never got in to Ronnie’s music until now. (Shame on me!) I am playing guitar tonight in a local pub with a few other musicians and will be playing ‘Annie’ with thanks to Ronnie for a beautiful gift. |

What a gift Ronnie gave us. First time I saw him was on the Faces Ooh La La tour. That man was the backbone of any band he played in.
The Passing Show DVD is great. Sad but great.
When can we get re-issues of all his discs?

Hey Guys
Lovin' this WebSite..
So!!!! what's my connection with Ronnie ???
Well from 1977 till about 1981 I had the pleasure of being a recording engineer for Bob Potter.(Who I guess was the "unsung" producer of this album, at the time)
Towards the end of 1979 (I Think!, drink & drugs permitting!) Bob Asked me to get involved in finishing the "See Me" album. At that point most of the tracks had already been recorded, Though we went into Marcus Studios in Bayswater and touched up some of the tracks overdubwise and then went to Pete Townshend's Mheer Bhaaba Studio's In Twickenham, West London, To Mix and finalise...... Oh What Fun We Had ! ! !
The time I spent with Ronnie(and Bob) in the studio was most definitely to be some of the most magical time I had ever spent in studios. And even now, though I have been involved in studio's for over 33 years, I still look back on that time with fondness and a reverence for the skills Ronnie taught me,
""Keep It Live And Keep It Real"" he said ! ! !
Around 1986 I had my 1st go at producing myself ! ! and I used to use Pete Townshend;s studio regularly to mix my productions. There were many days I can remember reminiscing with Pete about the "Joys" and "Pains" of working with the supreme talent that was Ronnie Lane ! !
A Talent that still today I tell young bands about, and get them to check out ! !
Because..... He Knew What The Soul Of Cool Music Was All About ! !
And ! ! ! It was not a secret society ! ! ! If you opened your mind, It was there for all to receive !!
Oh Ronnie, You are so sadly missed ! ! I was blessed to have spent some time near your talent, And I will be forever grateful.

Gorgeous tribute page. I was led here while researching movies with mahoney in the title. I've been inspired by this topic for a while..there seems to be so many. Believe it or not, I was actually at the world premiere of Mahoney's last stand (also known as mahoney's retreat) in montreal. Apparently it was 72..and it does seem that long ago but I think i was older than 13 which the date indicates. The morning of the premiere it was the first thing I heard on the radio and naturally wanted to go because of my last name. Although I don't remember specifically seeing lane I do remember wood and townsend. There was a mob of people making seeing difficult. It played at the cote des neiges theatre. Anyone want to know what it was about feel free to email me. I recommend it btw and am going to look for it. |

Ronnie Lane is the man. He is very understated in the world of music. His playing in the Small faces, faces and all is solo stuff was class. Fave tracks- done this one before, debris, song of a baker , chicken, last tango and on and on and on. I never met the man but he feels like an old mate. Ooh la la !!! |

I have wide ranging musical interest in rock, folk and blugrass - Ronnie seems to be able to cover all the bases with beautiful songs.
He's one of those people I'd love to have met.
Anyone in Yorkshire interested in playing some of his songs - send me an e mail.

Ronnie Lane has touched my heart and soul with his timeless, beautiful music.
Ronnie was unique... a true musician and songwriter of amazing talent. There's not been many like him and probably never will. His influence and inspiration can be seen and heard in so much music around today.
The Passing Show DVD perfectly tells the fascinating story of Ronnies life... I've watched it again and again...
God bless Ronnie Lane and may his spirit live forever... |
