I am just a average American 30 yr old guy trying to make it as a dad, a husband and a musician. Ronnie Lane's music is an inspiration on so many different levels. I wish I could have the freedom and the guts he had to have made some of the decisions in his life. He was life, and he should be proud to know that a working joe like myself here in America, has passed down his music to my own children. I have a 5 yr old boy who loves Ronnie Lane's music. He will learn more about him too. I just saw the Passing Show. It is well done. It means a lot to me that it was made. Ronnie Lane, you were amazing and you live in my home, teaching me through my speakers. |

To true "gentle" man who I met by sheer chance in 1985, on a quiet morning in Austin TX. I was enjoying a beautiful morning walk before opening my gallery, when I saw a small slender bearded man struggling to walk up his front path and manage a bag of groceries. I helped him up the path, into his house, got his groceries unpacked and wound up spending a wonderful morning with an incredibly gracious and charming human being. I noticed his guitar collection and over tea he regaled me with stories of music, his time with Faces, travel, and life in general. He may have been one the musical heroes of my high school years but his warmth, generosity of spirit, humility, and quiet strength in the face of his illness made him a real hero in my eyes. It was just a few hours on a chance day, but Ronnie Lane made it one of the special days in my life.

Ronnie is the most under rated of our English heros. Only under rated by those who are 'not in the know' though. He's like Bob Dylan in reverse, a true folk heart. But more than that, he's a master minstrel. Long live his beautiful back catologue. God bless Ronnie. |
